Our client needed to introduce new safety and crash avoidance features to their sales team and customers. However, given the complexity of these new technologies, simple printed manuals and brochures were not enough to fully communicate the value of these systems and how they operated. At the same time, it was not feasible to demonstrate the features on an actual vehicle since that would require potentially dangerous maneuvering. Once again, the client turned to CMC to find a solution.
CMC engineers and developers created a 360-degree virtual reality (VR) video using CAD data and CGI environmental elements to take guests on a virtual test drive. This 3-minute test drive went through all the various safety and crash avoidance scenarios, clearly communicating how the systems function. Using an Oculus headset, the users were fully immersed into the experience as they rode in the passenger seat. The level of detail made it feel as though they were riding in a car.
The client was able to deploy this asset globally to train sales staff on the safety technology features used in the vehicles and in turn, communicate the value strongly to guests in the showroom.
